Yoof session (190708) (Altar Call)

The altar call yesterday was just awesome. When Pastor Ben Chew called for people who wants to step up and enlist in God's army, a lot of people went up. I was one of them. So I started praying, giving God all the things that trouble me. My laziness, for example.

I asked God what in the world he wanted me to do. While asking Him, Pastor Chew called for those with low-self esteem to stand up (cos we were all kneeling). To my own surprise, I stood up. Yes, I had a low-self esteem. I kept thinking that, everytime after I sin, I cannot face God as he would throw a spear at me or something. Some people keep telling me how lousy I am, and I actually believe them.

"Having low self-esteem is normal. But if you think that God made you imperfect, if you call yourself ugly or stupid, you are actually insulting God. You are spitting in His face. In the beginning, God created stuff. He called the birds GOOD, animals GOOD, light and darkness GOOD, but after He created humans, he called them VERY GOOD! Thus we are made with perfection. God is a perfect creator. If He called humans as a very good creation, then obviously we are all handsome and beautiful in our own special way!"

God made us in his own image, so we are made in perfection. But when sin comes in... Man falls.

Anyway, back to the altar call. After the Pastor prayed for those with low self-esteem, we sang the song "Consuming Fire", and during the song, the Pastor came and prayed for the person beside me. He just dropped after that. Oh yah, my "dropping" here means that you get overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit and we will just fall under God's power. Next, the pastor came to me and prayed for me. After a while, he left, but within 2 seconds, he was back and called the Holy Spirit to fill me. And... BAM... next thing I knew, I was on the floor. And I really enjoyed the experience with the Holy Spirit. I also realised that my arm is raised up vertically 90 degrees. I was not able to move it so it was like awkwardly stationary.

After a while, I got back full control and sat up. Prayed for Jon, who was coincidentally next to me. Felt really encouraged after he prayed for me. Thanks, Jon!

Ytd's altar call was like one of the most real to me so far.

"Everythin' comes alive in my life as we lift you up"
"Free-dom is here"
