Money, the root?

I was just doing my QT just now... and my passage today is on Proverbs 1:1-19... If there are any mistakes whatsoever in my post (most likely), please let me know... I am willing to take honest criticism, as Jon Seet aptly placed it on Saturday... Thanks, Jon =D

Proverbs 1
Prologue, Purpose and Theme
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
2 for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight
3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young-
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance-
6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Exhortations to Embrace Wisdom
Warning Against Enticement
8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching.
9 They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them.
11 If they say, "Come along with us; let's lie in wait for someone's blood, let's waylay some harmless soul;
12 let's swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down the pit;
13 we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder;
14 throw in your lot with us, and we will share a common purse"-
15 my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;
16 for their feet rush into sin, they are swift to shed blood.
17 How useless to spread a net in full view of all th birds!
18 These men lie in wait for their own blood; they waylay only themselves!
19 Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the lives of those who get it.

Wow... such a powerful passage.

Verse 7 really hits me in the face, at the first part.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge"

Wisdom comes from God. People live lives now that they know all the ins and outs of life. But the one question that a lot of people are asking is:
"How do I live? What are the rules of living?"

Having wisdom will really help. Wisdom from God allows you to think deeper, about how God thinks and what would God want you to do.

It just strikes me. Am I fearing the Lord? Am I doing things by my own strength and I am not relying on God? It seems so.

I just re-started my exercise regime... 3 times a week to the gym...

Sorry, that was super random.

Money. It is like the language of people now.

Some things, such as smoking can be banned. But I wonder why the government does not outright ban it? Is it because of the issue of money? Because if more people gets lung cancer and stuff, the hospitals earn more money.

But I don't think the government will do this. The government cares for the people... I guess.

So many conflicts. Is money the cause?

The food prices are sky-rocketing. Money is tough to earn. It gets tougher day-by-day.

So is it true that money is the root of all evil?

Referring to Matthew 7:21-23...

21(Jesus says)"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"

It really made me think. I am really unsure if I am doing the will of God. Believing is not enough I guess... If you believe in Jesus, yet you reject Him just to be popular, then I doubt that it is God's will (Again, correct me here if I am wrong)

So I guess when we believe, we cannot just say, but we gotta work it out too. Like witnessing in class etc.

I spoke too much... again.

"Everythin' comes alive in my life as we lift you up"
"Free-dom is here"
